One basic type of a health program is Preferred Provider Organization. In this type of insurance a person gets coverage from one insurance company and gets an incentive to be under the umbrella of the insurance company and they have to pay less if the consult a doctor who is on the panel of the doctor. In this plan the insured is allowed to consult other doctors but in this case the insurance company does not like the liability for the same. One can learn it easily and should ask the agent all questions that they have in mind. Thus before one spends money and takes a policy they should ensure all is clear to them.

Another type of health insurance program is Health Maintenance Organization which is the cheapest and is considered to be very economical also. The coverage provided by HMO is also very flexible. It covers the preventive care measures which are not covered by PPO. These are covered in this plan with low co payment rates. These are extremely flexible, convenient and affordable. The customer in these has to cover those doctors who are approved. Before consulting other professionals one needs to take permission from a panel doctor for sure.

The third type is Point of Service Plans. These are open ended PPO and HMO where the insured has the right to use the plans by other insurers and also get treated by doctors outside the network. Here the insured is covered from everything which is connected to the medical expenses. To get a coverage the insured has to use the primary physician so that he can refer the other specialists that are needed to be consulted.
